STA/Respite FAQ
When included in a participant’s plan, Short Term Accommodation (STA) funding is all-inclusive. It generally covers:
Accommodation
Meals and snacks
24/7 support staff (with ratios based on participant needs)
Daily living assistance and personal care
Community activities and programs linked to NDIS goals
Transport for agreed outings during the stay
Not included: personal spending, souvenirs, or travel to and from the STA location (unless separately funded).
The NDIS usually funds up to 28 days per year, which can be taken flexibly across weekends, short breaks, or longer stays.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) is funded from a participant’s Core budget – Assistance with Daily Life. The NDIS sets a daily rate which is all-inclusive (covering accommodation, meals, support staff, and agreed activities).
Funding is usually available for up to 28 days per year, and can be used flexibly:
In a single block of days
Over weekends
As short breaks spread throughout the year
To use STA, families or coordinators can request it to be booked through their Core supports. A Service Agreement is prepared before the stay to outline dates, costs, support ratios, and activities.
Yes. Reve360 provides all-inclusive STA quotes in line with NDIS guidelines. Your quote will cover:
Accommodation
Meals and snacks
24/7 support staff (with agreed ratios)
Personal care and daily living assistance
Community activities and outings included in the program
Transport required for those activities
This means there are no hidden charges – everything related to the STA program is built into the one daily rate. Personal spending money (for souvenirs, shopping, or extras outside the agreed program) is not included.
Most costs are covered within your Reve360 STA quote, including accommodation, meals, support staff, activities, and local transport for the agreed program.
The only out-of-pocket expenses you may have are:
Personal spending money (e.g. souvenirs, shopping, takeaway food, extra snacks)
Transport to and from the STA location, unless separately funded in your NDIS plan
Any optional activities or extras not included in the agreed program
Our team will always explain these clearly before your booking so there are no surprises.
At Reve360, activities are chosen to support each participant’s NDIS goals while making the stay fun, engaging, and meaningful. Examples include:

You don’t have to make the decision alone. Several people can support you in choosing whether Reve360’s STA is right for your goals and needs:
Your Support Coordinator or Local Area Coordinator (LAC): They can help you understand how STA fits into your plan and whether it aligns with your NDIS goals.
Your Plan Manager (if you have one): They can confirm how funding can be used and assist with budgeting.
Family and Carers: The people who know you best can share insights about what type of stay will be most beneficial.
The Reve360 Team: We’re here to answer any questions, explain our programs, and provide a detailed quote and Service Agreement before your booking.
Together, this team ensures your STA is safe, supportive, and aligned with the outcomes you want to achieve.
In some cases, the NDIS doesn’t fund individual supports in a Short-term Accomodation setting. Consider this when exploring STA options to decide what is most suitable for you in pursuing your goals. This may be something such as increasing you independence or building your social skills, which also allow for your carers to have respite.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) is funded through the Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life budget in your NDIS plan. It is not a separate category, which means you don’t have to ask for “STA” by name. Instead, your plan needs to show that a short stay away from home is reasonable and necessary for achieving your goals.
To have STA approved or included in your plan:
Talk with your Support Coordinator or LAC about how STA can help you build independence, confidence, social participation, or provide respite for carers.
Use your goals (for example: “I want to build my daily living skills” or “I want to increase social connections”) to show how STA supports your outcomes.
Provide evidence if needed – such as reports from therapists, support workers, or family, demonstrating the benefits of short stays.
Discuss it at your plan meeting or review – the NDIA will decide if it meets the “reasonable and necessary” criteria.
Once STA is in your plan, you can choose a provider like Reve360 to deliver it.
Reve360 can support participants who are Plan-managed or Self-managed. This is because we issue invoices directly to your Plan Manager or to you (for Self-managed plans), and they can claim against your NDIS funding.
At this stage, we are not registered for NDIA-managed (Agency-managed) participants, which means if your plan is Agency-managed, you would need to switch part of your funding to Plan-managed or Self-managed to use our services.
If you are unsure which option applies to you, your Support Coordinator or Plan Manager can assist, and our team is happy to guide you through the process.
All REVE360 STA invoices are processed within 7 days of the completion of the STA Service. REVE360 invoices will be sent to the Plan-Manager after the service agreement is signed.
